Légère Artist Feature | Nelson Garcia

We caught up with saxophonist Nelson Garcia and asked him a few questions about his music, what's next for his career and how his life has changes since playing Légère Reeds!

1. Why did you choose the saxophone over other reed instruments?

I was 1st introduced to the drums at the age of 13. However, one day my band teacher said: Nelson, why don't you try the saxophone? It was like love at 1st site. I feel in love with the instrument and the rest is history.

2. What keeps you motivated to practice and play?

My calling as an artist. I feel that every musician has a calling to be better at what they do. My motivation is the public that i play for ,the people and companies that support me. I feel like if i don't practice, i will never be better.

3. What advice would you give to intermediate musicians taking the leap to the advanced/professional tier?

This is a great question. The best advice would be to be original. Don't try to be someone you are not. Every musician has something special and unique to offer, and that's a beautiful thing. Practice, listen and learn and the repeat the process. We never stop learning. Take criticism and make the best out of it.

4. How has your musical life changed since you started playing Légère reeds?

Légère reeds have been a total sound changer for me. I feel like i can do anything with the sax. The consistency and durability has enabled me to be a better saxophonist all around.

5. What’s next for you in your musical career?

I have some great plans for my musical career. I will be releasing a new single in 2018 with producer Darren Rahn and also releasing my 3rd CD “New Horizons”. Lots of great things happening and i am very excited to share it with the world. I am looking forward to many musical adventures and experiences. To meet more great people, to inspire , motivate and express my love for music and humanity through my instrument.
