David Beecroft

Jazz Artist

David Beecroft began his music career Toronto, Canada in the mid 1970's. He now lives in Berlin, Germany where he plays tenor, alto, soprano and baritone saxophone as well as flute and clarinet. Since arriving in Europe he has been steadily busy with playing, both as a sideman and leader, writing and teaching. Steady positions have included the Deutsches Theatre, Berlin Police Orchestra, SPO Orchestra as well as various big bands around Berlin. Mr. Beecroft presently teaches at the Jazzschule Berlin and in the Jazz & Pop department of Musikschule Fanny Hensel. He teaches single lessons, ensembles and directs the school big band. David has also published several books on jazz improvisation and a unique book with play-along tracks for ear training and intonation. He has also produced a series of intimate recordings featuring Wolfgang Köhler, Jiggs Whigham and Herb Gellar.

David has an understanding of the subtleties of saxophone tone and colour, and recently travelled to our head office to help Guy Légère  design the new Signature Series Tenor Sax reeds, which have been getting unbelievable reviews.   He has also collaborated with Guy to design a Signature Series Alto Sax reed, which some testers have referred to as the best reeds they have ever played.  Stay tuned for the commercial release of the new Signature Series Alto reeds.

David had this to say about the new reeds:  "I am very excited by how the Signature series feel and play. Finally, a synthetic reed that replaces and in many ways exceeds the performance of cane. Great reeds."
