"Technology has finally produced a reed that surpasses cane reeds; these reeds do not have the hassles of cane reeds and takes the Signature Series reeds to a new level of performance. Guy Légère and his team have done it!" - Jimmy Haag's view on
In 1979 after completing his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., Jimmy moved to his current city of Las Vegas, Nevada. He lives there with his wife, Linda, and three lovable dogs. Las Vegas was chosen due to the suggestion of his mentor, Wes Hensel, and in turn fulfilled his lifelong dream to live in Las Vegas. He has played every showroom in town and has been performing as well as giving private instruction for the last 31 years.
Jimmy has had the pleasure of working with amazing artists such as Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Lou Rawls, Susan Anton, Donna Summers and Tommy Dorsey, to name a few, in the showrooms of Las Vegas.
Having been classified as a handicapped person due to legal blindness from birth, he was stricken with another trauma that resulted in three cervical neck fusions after suffering from an accident. His current business, Jimmy's Music, was formed as a means to combine performance, jazz/music clinics, and private instruction.
His students have won numerous awards at both state and local levels including receiving outstanding soloist awards at venues like The Monterey, Reno International, Northern Arizona University, Chaffey College, and Fullerton College Jazz Festivals.
Jimmy has served as the past treasurer for the State of Nevada's IAJE Chapter, is currently a member of J.E.N. (Jazz Education Network). He has taught many music/jazz clinics at venues like the IAJE Western Regional Conference, and various music summer camps such as the prestigious Idllywild Arts Academy in California.
His teachers have included: Joe Viola, Joe Allard, Phil Woods, Bob Patton, Daniel Klimoski, Lou Mazza, Ken Brader Jr., Mark Hilburn, Bob Newman, Jay Cameron, Anthony Gigliotti and Julius Baker.
In addition to Jimmy is currently an artist/endorser for Theo Wanne Classic Mouthpieces and Nadir Saxophone Neckstraps.
