Freelance Orchestral Player
West End Performer
After studying at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music, Ruth now enjoys a career performing as an orchestral player, chamber musician and most recently as a performer in the West End theatres of London. She currently holds the clarinet chair on the West End production of "Sweeney Todd" and she also teaches and coaches at some of Britains leading educational establishments. She travels extensively through her work with orchestras and chamber groups and has been invited to play in South East Asia, India, USA and most memorably, a recital up the Amazon river.
She is a founder member of wind trio, "No Strings Attached" and has been invited to play for HRH Prince of Wales on numerous occasions at his private residences. She has also performed as a soloist in Clarinet Concertos by Mozart, Weber and Malcolm Arnold.
Ruth enjoys the freedom of freelance work, which allows her to devote time equally between orchestras, shows and chamber work.
"I really like that Légère reeds allow me the freedom to perform many genres of music with no concerns about finding different reeds depending on the work. I don't have to worry about playing in foreign climates, challenging environments or air conditioned halls, and since using Légère I have received so many more compliments on my sound and tone. They just make my professional life so much easier.."
