Jayson Rivera is a member of Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005, and a clarinet teacher in University of the Philippines since 2016.

Previously principal clarinet of the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra beginning in 2001, he was the featured soloist during the MMCO Concert Season held at the Philamlife Auditorium and the University of the East Theater. Also, he was one of the soloists in the MMCO Young Artists Concert Series held at the Francisco Santiago WorldHall. He has appeared as soloist in the Tissot of Music Concert at the Shangri-la Plaza with the University of the Philippines Symphonic Band. He was awarded ‘Best Soloist’ for performing ‘Rigoletto Fantasy for Clarinet’ during the Certamen Band Competition in Muntinlupa City. As a woodwind player, he has also performed with Broadway Musicals staged in Manila such as The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked The Musical, Chicago The Musical, Singin’ In The Rain and Sound of Music. Also some local musical production such as The Producers, Stepping Out, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Matilda and Christmas Carol.

As a chamber musician, he has played with several groups including the Clarion Chamber Ensemble, Prestige Clarinet Ensemble, PPO Woodwind Quintet and UP Clarinet Choir.

His participation in the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2001 and 2002 have encompassed rehearsal camp in The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and concert tours in China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore.

In 1998, he was awarded first prize for Clarinet–Category C in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists.

He received his Diploma in Creative and Performing Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music from the University of the Philippines College of Music. A Nueva Ecija native, he began his musical training in Band 11 of Cabiao.

As a teacher, Jayson Rivera conducts workshop for the woodwind players of the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School Symphonic Band, Philippine Airforce Band and other school band and community band.
