Joe D’Aleo joined the United States Coast Guard Band in 2013 as tenor saxophonist. Prior to his audition and subsequent enlistment in the Coast Guard he was a Henry Mancini Fellow and teaching assistant at the University of Miami, Frost School of Music under his mentor, Dale Underwood. While in Miami, he performed regularly with the New World Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with renowned wind band conductors such as Glen Adsit, Rodney Dorsey, Gary Green, Michael Haithcock, Captain Ken Megan, USCG, Ret., Colonel Larry Lang, and H. Robert Reynolds. Additionally, Mr. D’Aleo has toured with the United States Coast Guard Band throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, and most recently in the 2017 Summer Heartland Tour, which included the 2017 Texas Bandmaster’s Association Conference, Baylor University, Meyerson Symphony Center, Oklahoma State University and Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
In other musical accolades, Joe D’Aleo has performed in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, United States Navy Band Symposium, numerous North American Saxophone Alliance Conferences and most recently at the 2016 CBDNA Eastern Division Conference as a soloist in Frank Tichelli’s Concerto for Saxophone with Glen Adsit and the Hartt Wind Ensemble.

Joe is also a member of the United States Coast Guard Saxophone Quartet and Reed Quintet. In the spring of 2015 Mr. D’Aleo was the Interim Saxophone Instructor at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where legendary saxophonist Lynn Klock recently retired as Professor of Saxophone.
A Connecticut native, Joe D’Aleo hold’s a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied with world-renowned saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford, The Hartt School under the tutelage of Carrie Koffman. One of Joe’s finest memories as a musician include a 2010 performance in New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge to perform for Composer Martin Bresnick’s Everything Must Go CD Release. Joe is currently an Endorsing Artist for Légère Reeds LTD.
