Runkun Li is the first Chinese person to receive a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies (D.M.A. Jazz Studies). Runkun is currently an Instructor of Jazz Saxophone at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Jazz Department. He also conducts the jazz big band and teaches the course of jazz composition and arranging. He is also a board member of the China Saxophone Association and an executive board member of the Saxophone Committee of Sichuan Musicians Association.
In China, he has been invited to present lectures and concerts at Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Xi ‘an Conservatory of Music, Jilin University of the Arts, Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, Jilin University of the Ats, Ningxia University, Northwest University for Nationalities, Dalian University and other colleges and universities. He has held many personal concerts in universities and theaters in China and USA.
