Légère Artist Feature | Jason Whitmore
Why did you choose the saxophone over other reed instruments?
“I chose the saxophone at age 11 with very little thought or influence. I guess you could call it luck because I definitely think sax is the coolest, most versatile reed instrument I could have chosen.”
What keeps you motivated to practice and play?
“Moving through the creative process of creating music has always been super satisfying for me. Anytime I’m playing my horn whether its practicing on my own or performing in front of thousands of people it energizes me. Playing sax is literally fuel to my soul.”
What advice would you give to intermediate musicians taking the leap to the advanced/professional tier?
“Learn to love the educational process. When you love to practice then the personal growth, success and gratification will naturally follow.”
How has your musical life changed since you started playing Légère reeds?
“Playing Légère reeds has given me the freedom to completely focus on the music itself without having to worry if my reed can handle the next musical idea I want to play or how I want to play it.”
What’s next for you in your musical career?
“I’ve really enjoyed the growth in my musical career over the last couple of years so I guess you can say I’m looking forward to more of the same, more collaborations with new recording artists, more live performances, traveling to new cities and more music!”
